The ATEL Treasury Day is one of Luxembourg’s most focused annual gatherings for senior treasury professionals. The 2026 edition took place on Tuesday 16 June at the Auditorium BGL BNP Paribas, organised by the Luxembourg Association of Corporate Treasurers (ATEL) under the theme “Treasury at the Crossroads: Navigating Risk, Reinventing Tools, Redefining Value” and Finologee was once again a partner of the event, with a presence both on stage and on the floor.

On stage: idle cash optimisation with PwC Luxembourg

The session that closed the afternoon programme paired Jonathan Prince, co-founder and CSO at Finologee, with Anne Massardier, Director in Finance Advisory at PwC Luxembourg, a longstanding Finologee integration partner. The topic was idle cash optimisation, theory and best practices.

Massardier opened on the organisational prerequisites: a single governed data layer across accounting, treasury and controlling; clear ownership of cash positions across entities and geographies; and forecasting processes management actually acts on. Without those foundations, automation has nothing to work with.

“The challenge for most treasurers is the connection with the external world. Internally, direct data flows from ERPs and other systems are essential. Data security is also fundamental, not only for regulated organisations, but for corporates too. And last but not least: integrations – across the entire value chain (such as for KYC processes). That is why we identified Finologee’s banking orchestration solution as particularly complete.”

Anne Massardier, Director in Finance Advisory at PwC Luxembourg

Jonathan Prince’s contribution built from there. The core observation was that idle cash is a process problem, not an investment problem:

“The question is ‘where do you have your cash sitting and how do you actually manage the movements from one account to the other?’ From what we saw, there are three maturity levels in treasury teams: first is manual, second is rule-based movements and the third is continuous optimisation – and that degree of automation is what really gives more time to the treasury department to focus on the strategy instead”

Jonathan Prince, Co-Founder & CSO at Finologee

Uninvested overnight balances earn near-zero, and at group scale the gap versus short-dated instruments compounds year-on-year. Massardier added the operational reality in plain terms: on average, 80% of a treasurer’s day is spent collecting, concentrating and manually reconciling data, simply to establish a clear cash position before cut-off. In a world of instant payments, that position is already stale by the time it is assembled. In this context, T+1 cash forecasting goes from merely imprecise, to becoming a genuine control weakness. Once PSD3 extends open banking to corporates, real-time and consolidated cash data goes from being a simple “treasury preference” to a practical compliance baseline.

Tackling idle cash: what the platform does

Idle cash accumulates because the data needed to act on it is fragmented across portals, entities and currencies, and concentration requires manual intervention at each step.

Finologee’s Banking Orchestrator addresses this at the infrastructure level. Connected via SWIFT and EBICS, the platform aggregates balances across all connected banks into a single consolidated view. Treasury teams configure automated sweep rules, zero-balance, target-balance or threshold-based, executed on a scheduled basis across banks and currencies with FX applied at execution. The platform sits above existing banking relationships and does not replace them, feeding results back into ERPs and TMS platforms via API or file exchange.

Every sweep is charted, auditable and governed by configurable approval workflows. A full overview of the liquidity automation capabilities is available here.
Treasury Tech Solution of the Year

The Banking Orchestrator’s relevance to treasury teams extends beyond cash concentration alone, in fact, in December 2025, ATEL recognised Finologee’s platform as its Treasury Tech Solution of the Year, reflecting the platform’s breadth of application for corporate treasury functions.

The platform centralises payment creation, validation and release across all connected banks from a single interface, with configurable maker-checker and multi-level approval rules. Payment tracking is real-time across banks and borders. For teams managing counterparty risk, the platform includes a counterparty registry with integrated sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, as well as payee verification before first payment. Dashboard and reporting capabilities give treasury teams a consolidated view of balances, cashflow forecasting, pending approvals and transaction history, exportable in standard formats for internal and audit use.

For organisations operating across multiple entities, the governance architecture is central.  Teams considering the platform can explore its core workflows through the self-guided tours.
